We’re excited to announce Kinetic Enclave, a new solution from SecureW2 designed for quicker authentication and stronger resiliency against the increasing threats of network outages and edge vulnerabilities. It’s a modern edge-to-cloud resiliency solution that extends the power of cloud network authentication directly to the physical edge.
Migrating legacy, on-prem solutions to cloud RADIUS has already helped thousands of organizations move away from aging server infrastructure and centralized identity management. Now, organizations with on-premises infrastructure needing greater resilience against network outages can ensure operational continuity during local broadband disruptions, without completely revamping their infrastructure or replacing hardware.
How Kinetic Enclave Works
Kinetic Enclave is a lightweight, hybrid cloud RADIUS architecture that operates seamlessly alongside SecureW2 Cloud RADIUS. It can cut network authentication time in half and maintain access during WAN or ISP disruptions. Kinetic Enclave also bridges the gap for hardware lacking native RadSec support by delivering the increased security of RADIUS over TLS, even for vulnerable legacy hardware.
The overall solution delivers the best of both worlds of cloud and on-prem RADIUS: a local presence to increase authentication speed by 2.4x, has offline RADIUS to keep operations up and Wi-Fi running if the internet goes dark, and gives older hardware the benefits of RadSec, without any of the burdens that come with managing a fully on-prem RADIUS server.
What Kinetic Enclave Delivers for Customers
Kinetic Enclave can be easily deployed in under an hour with the help of our team, and provides the following benefits:
- 2.4x Faster Local Authentication: Kinetic Enclave eliminates transit latency by handing the cryptographic handshake directly on the local area network rather than requiring multiple round-trips over the public internet. Only lightweight policy decisions reach back to the cloud, so authentication speeds are more than doubled and end users get an instantaneous connection experience.
- Autonomous Offline Resilience: It instantly detects cloud or ISP disruptions and transitions to autonomous offline mode without manual intervention or network disruption, ensuring seamless operational continuity during broadband disruptions.
- Universal RadSec Modernization: Kinetic Enclave seamlessly ingests traffic from diverse access points and switches and encapsulates it into encrypted RadSec tunnels for secure transport to the cloud. It modernizes existing infrastructure and hardens local networks without requiring hardware replacement.
Why Kinetic Enclave is Important Now
More AI agents are running on local devices without relying on cloud infrastructure. At the same time, they’re accessing more data and making more autonomous decisions. Legacy infrastructure vulnerabilities are only growing. The end result is that the edge is an increasingly vulnerable layer, and Kinetic Enclave helps harden that layer.
It provides the best of both worlds: a featherweight local edge service that terminates authentication on-site for immediate 2.4x login speed gains, keeps operations up and Wi-Fi running if the internet goes dark, and gives older hardware the benefits of RadSec, all while staying centrally orchestrated from its cloud platform.
An Evolution of Cloud RADIUS
“Enterprises moved to Cloud RADIUS because it transformed network management and retired painful legacy infrastructure,” said Bert Kashyap, Co-Founder and CEO of SecureW2. “However, high-density edge environments still demanded sub-second login speeds and an ironclad answer for the occasional ISP hiccup. Kinetic Enclave provides the best of both worlds: a featherweight local edge service that terminates authentication on-site for immediate 2.4x speed gains, keeps doors open and Wi-Fi running if the internet goes dark, and proxies RadSec for older gear, all while staying centrally orchestrated from our cloud platform.”
Using a full cloud RADIUS architecture is still a great choice for many of our customers. SecureW2 still provides the most reliable Cloud RADIUS service in the market, and is the choice for organizations who don’t want to have any servers running at locations. For organizations that can host something locally, Kinetic Enclave provides a local failover to keep authentication running during WAN outages, all while improving network performance with snappier Wi-Fi connections. Kinetic Enclave is now available for SecureW2 Cloud RADIUS customers, and if you are interested, contact us and our team will be happy to help you learn more;
