The Challenge
A software provider needed to replace an on-premises RADIUS server with a cloud-native solution. It had grown overly complex to configure, leading the company to search for an external solution. The legacy server infrastructure also lacked the redundancy that the company needed to ensure consistent service for customers.
At the same time, the company was struggling with inaccurate license and device counts, which raised concerns that some decommissioned devices might still have access to the network. They also needed a service that could accommodate several software integrations. The customer chose SecureW2 after testing out several competitor PKI and RADIUS providers due to extended integrations and better price point.
The Solution
SecureW2 successfully replaced the company’s legacy infrastructure, replacing it with a cloud-native PKI and RADIUS solution. Jamf, Kandji, Okta, and Splunk integrations were also worked into the new cloud-based architecture. The result was a unified, intuitive certificate management tool through the SecureW2 JoinNow Platform.
The team also attached SCEP profiles to a single identity anchor, eliminating the license miscount issue and achieving visibility into all 800 of the company’s managed devices.
The Results
SecureW2 successfully:
- Retired on-premises authentication. Cloud-native PKI replaced legacy certificate infrastructure for wireless authentication.
- Achieved visibility into managed devices. Eliminated redundant certificate enrollments by aligning SCEP attributes for an accurate device count and ongoing visibility into managed devices.
- Extended integrations. The team connected necessary external software for device management and data collection.
