The Challenge
A staffing and workforce solutions firm needed a way to restrict corporate network access to company-owned devices only. The existing network couldn’t distinguish between authorized corporate endpoints and unmanaged devices connecting to Wi-Fi. For a company handling sensitive client workforce data across two locations, the gap was a straightforward risk.
Both wired and wireless connections needed 802.1X authentication — not just Wi-Fi, but every switch port where a corporate device connected.
The team needed a solution that would integrate with existing solutions like Meraki and ManageEngine and deploy certificates without requiring end-user interaction.
The Solution
The SecureW2 JoinNow Platform provides managed PKI and cloud-based RADIUS for corporate devices across the two locations. ManageEngine distributes certificates to corporate endpoints, and devices present certificates to the RADIUS server for 802.1X authentication. Both wired and wireless connections are covered, each managed from the same SecureW2 tenant.
SecureW2 staff were on hand throughout the implementation to address needs ranging from VLAN assignments to integrations with existing network security solutions, as well as testing across both locations. Expert guidance enabled the sole IT lead on the client side to complete the job effectively.
The Results
- Wired and wireless 802.1X live— both switch port authentication and wireless 802.1X run through the same RADIUS instance
- Corporate-only network access— only devices with a valid certificate can connect to the corporate network
- Two locations covered— the same RADIUS and certificate policies apply across both office sites
- Single-person deployment— one technology manager configured the entire rollout across both locations with guided support sessions
